5 Tips to Support Good Health

At every age, our microbiome is the ecosystem living within us responsible for digestion, absorbing nutrients, regulating the immune system, protecting from pathogens, and so much more.

The holidays is the perfect time to step up your families' immunity and introduce some new healthy practices!

1. Handwashing can prevent 1 in 3 diarrhoea-related sicknesses and 1 in 5 respiratory infections, such as a cold or the flu. Teach kids to wash their hands well.

It is estimated that up to 80% of communicable diseases are transferred by touch alone.

So washing your hands is probably the simplest – but nevertheless effective – way to locally manipulate the human skin microbiome, with direct benefits for human health.

2. Sleep is essential for growth, immunity, and memory and is important for helping a child heal and recover. Factor in quantity and quality sleep time.
The link between sleep and the microbiome is circular: Poor sleep can create poor conditions for microbiota, while poor digestive health can generate issues with sleep.

Lack of sleep can lead to an imbalance in these hormones, making us crave more sugary foods, which in large amounts can contribute to an overgrowth of harmful bacteria affecting our gut health.

3. Eat the rainbow - have kids involved in adding colourful fruits and veggies to meals.

Eating a rainbow every day will not only help diversify your microbiome but also increase the number of beneficial bacteria in your gut that protect you from inflammation, improve digestive wellbeing and support the health of many organs and processes in your body.

4. Immunity - stay healthy on the inside and add Qiara probiotics to support diegestive and gastrointestinal health for the family.

Breastmilk is our first food as humans and is the major factor in colonising the infant gut and building the immune system. All Qiara products contain a well researched probiotioc strain isolated from breastmilk - Lactobacillus fermentum CECT5716.

Taking Qiara daily may help support gastrointestinal system health and increase beneficial flora levels contributing to a healthy robust microbiome.

Qiara is ideal for all infants to support gastrointestinal health, including infants experiencing diarrhoea, constipation, reflux and colic and to help restore good gut flora during or following antibiotics.

5. Prescribed antibiotics? - Take Qiara to restore good gut flora during  & after antibiotics.

While necessary, antibiotics are not selective and can also reduce the levels of beneficial and protective flora. This can lead to an imbalance between the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bacteria - a condition called dysbiosis.

The entire Qiara range can be taken to help maintain good gut flora during and after antibiotic use. We recommend taking our probiotic at least 2 hours before or after taking antibiotics (not together).
