Qiara Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

Supports gastrointestinal  and immune system health.

Mastitis relief during breastfeeding

@mariarrudaa

As a mum, or mum-to-be, you understand how your own gut health and microbiome influences the health of your baby and can be impacted by factors including your diet during pregnancy, medicines or antibiotics you have needed, if your baby was born via C-Section or vaginally and how your baby is fed.

Easy to take and dosed in individually sealed sachets, the probiotic strain in Qiara Pregnancy & Breastfeeding was originally found in and isolated from breastmilk and not only supports gastrointestinal and immune system health, but also helps to stimulate a healthy immune system response for both mum and baby.

Finding the Right Probiotic

Who Should Take Qiara Pregnancy & Breastfeeding probiotics?

  • Any woman who is pregnant or trying to become pregnant
  • Any woman wanting to support general good health, gastrointestinal and immune system health and microbiome support during the entire pregnancy or at least in the last trimester.
  • Any woman who is breastfeeding. Qiara is a probiotic strain that was originally isolated from healthy breastmilk flora (not from bowel flora). It transfers into breastmilk, which in turn may improve the infant's gut health
  • Both mum and baby can benefit from Qiara Pregnancy & Breastfeeding - there is usually no need to give a separate probiotic to the baby if mum is taking Qiara as the breastfed baby receives the probiotic benefits at every feed,
  • Any woman experiencing breast pain or symptoms of mastitis while breastfeeding. Qiara may provide mastitis releive and assist in reducing the occurrence of mastitis while breastfeeding.

Seek medical advice if mastitis symptoms persist for more than 12 hours or you start to feel unwell.

Preconception

Establishing good gut health and a strong and robust microbiome is important from pre-conception. Recent research suggests a healthy gut and reproductive microbiome may be beneficial for fertility outcomes.

Along with a healthy diet and lifestyle, taking one sachet of Qiara Pregnancy & Breastfeeding sachet daily during preconception may increase beneficial flora levels contributing to a healthy robust microbiome and support gastrointestinal and immune system support.

Pregnancy

Research suggests a mother’s microbiome is extremely important during pregnancy. Therefore, it is important that a mother’s microbiome is strong and robust throughout all trimesters of pregnancy, during labour and birth, and during breastfeeding.

Along with a healthy diet and lifestyle, taking one sachet of Qiara Pregnancy & Breastfeeding sachet daily while pregnant may increase beneficial flora levels contributing to a healthy and robust microbiome.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding continues the important transfer of beneficial bacteria that begins during labour and birth. A mother’s gut and breastmilk microbiome significantly contribute to the overall health of both mother and baby, therefore it is essential to optimise mum’s gut and breastmilk microbiome health.

Clinical Research conducted using the single probiotic strain in Qiara, Lactobacillus fermentum CECT5716, shows that it may reduce or relieve symptoms of breast pain and mastitis and the occurrence of mastitis during breastfeeding`

When the breastmilk microbiome is out of balance, pathogenic bacteria can dominate and lead to inflammation, breast pain and mastitis.  This often occurs if antibiotics have been required.  By increasing the levels of good bacteria, Qiara helps to restore and maintain a healthy balance of protective flora in the breastmilk microbiome to help relieve symptoms reduce recurrence.   As Qiara has been clinically demonstrated to translocate into breastmilk, when mum takes Qiara you know that your breastfed baby is benefitting at every feed.

Taking one sachet of Qiara daily while breastfeeding also supports gastrointestinal and immune system health (for mum and baby).

Seek medical advice if mastitis symptoms persist for more than 12 hours or you start to feel unwell.

Birth By C-section

A study of 627,600 Australian births reported that women who gave birth by C-section were 70% more likely to be diagnosed with a complication affecting breastfeeding and their babies are at higher risk of infection.

C-section mums required to have antibiotics to prevent infection. While necessary, antibiotics are not selective and can also reduce the levels of beneficial and protective flora in the breast milk and gut. This can lead to an imbalance between the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bacteria and a condition called dysbiosis. Breastmilk dysbiosis can lead to an increased risk of infections such as mastitis and can also impact the colonisation of the infant’s microbiome and consequent development of their immune system.

Taking Qiara daily before and after your C-section may assist in maintaining the balance of good bacteria in breastmilk and the gut which may be affected by prescribed antibiotics.

GBS Positive?

GBS (Group B Strep) positive mums are frequently prescribed antibiotics to prevent serious infection and translocation to baby. While necessary, antibiotics are not selective and can also reduce the levels of beneficial and protective flora in mums gut and breast milk. This can lead to an imbalance between the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bacteria and a condition called dysbiosis. Dysbiosis can lead to an increased risk of infections and can also impact the colonisation of the infant’s microbiome and consequent development of their immune system.

Taking Qiara daily before and after antibiotics for GBS may assist in maintaining the balance of good bacteria in the gut and in breastmilk, which may have been affected by prescribed antibiotics.

Dosage and Preparation

  • Each box of Qiara Pregnancy & Breastfeeding contains 28 single-dose sachets of oral powder.
  • Each sachet contains no less than 3 billion colony forming units (cfu) of Lactobacillus fermentum CECT5716 until expiry.
  • The recommended dose is 1 sachet per day, simply mix into water, juice, a smoothie, soft food or even sprinkle on your cereal and consume immediately. Qiara is almost tasteless, so its easy to take, even during pregnancy.
  • If experiencing breast pain, mastitis symptoms or are taking prescribed antibiotics, it is recommended you take two sachets per day, 2-3 hours before or after the antibiotic dose. Continue taking this dosage for one week after completing the antibiotic course, then go back to the regular dosage.

Seek medical advice if mastitis symptoms persist for more than 12 hours or you start to feel unwell.

What makes Qiara Probiotics Different?

Probiotics originally isolated from breastmilk

Lactobacillus fermentum CECT5716 is a probiotic isolated from breastmilk. Breastmilk has unique properties:

  • It has as a history of safe prolonged intake by newborns and infants.
  • Is uniquely adapted to reside both in the human digestive tract and in human breastmilk and to interact with the human baby.
  • This strain has been clinically shown to pass into breastmilk when taken orally by the mother.

Tihs probiotic strain in Qiara may play a critical role in reducing the incidence of inflammation in breast tissue and establishing a healthy microbiome in the infant.

Single strain vs multi strain probiotic

It is important to select the right probiotic strain researched for and suited to your needs.

Many probiotic companies provide broad spectrum probiotics containing multiple strains in a single dose. However, clinical trials for probiotics are usually conducted with a single strain rather than with multiple strains, and it is unclear how multiple strains in a single dose may interact with or inhibit each other.

Qiara Pregnancy & Breastfeeding contains 3 billion colony forming units (cfu) of Lactobacillus fermentum CECT5716 in each sachet, the same dosage of exactly the same single strain used in clinical trials.
